WORK STYLE
Clients become my partners. You're the expert on your company
so you have the best source of information. I use a variety
of resources to complete projects–mostly my own skills–but
when project management is needed, I have a roladex of llustrators,
writers, professional photographers, programmers and printers
at hand. I am always on the lookout for good quality work flow
partners.
MY
WORK ENVIRONMENT
My
style is relaxed and personal, yet professional, working directly
with clients from project beginning to end. My office is surrounded
by nature which I find to be most condusive to my own creativity.
After spending many years working in formal office settings
and agency environments, I'm now able to work in a stress-free
atmosphere. When many people are sitting in early morning traffic,
I'm having my second cup of coffee, already in my office. My
two dogs are my co-workers, therapy and best buds.
COMPUTER
SKILLS
Software
applications I use frequently: Photoshop, Quark, Illustrator,
Dreamweaver, Flash, Word, Acrobat. Past projects and other learned
applications: Freehand, Excel, Pagemaker, Powerpoint, Persuasion,
Framemaker and more. My first jobs as production and layout
artist allowed me to develop great computer skills, so I can
back up my own ideas and execute them in a combination of software
programs.
WORK
HISTORY
Eighteen
years of full time positions and freelance work for ad agencies,
freelance, many on-site production and design assignments through
temp agencies, and more. The variety keeps me on my toes. New
challenges and learning all about new companies is great.
EDUCATION
Major: Fine art and advertising (first four years). Switched
majors to earn bachelors in business from East Texas State University
(now called Texas A&M Commerce). The well rounded education
has served me well. The advertising program was the best in
the state, and I had the great fortune of having advertising
classes taught by creative directors, art directors and designers
working at major Dallas agencies. The real world agency education
was worth gold. Fine art classes in the college curriculum unlocked
more creative doors and helps today with every aspect of design.
ALL
THE WAY BACK
For a third grade project, I made my own magazine with fully
designed cover, ads, coupons and news articles included. The
magazine was set in some far away year, with articles about
future families riding in space ships to go on a daily shopping
spree, to the moon. Illustrations for the articles done by me.
My grandparents had me make birthday cards, which they'd buy
from me. I even had my own logo on the back. Anything to do
with art, music (even sports) was of interest. My grandfather
bought one of the first Apples in the early 80s. The games were
archaeic, but we played them endlessly and I developed a big
interest in computers. Since then my skills have evolved with
the industry. After working on Macs and pc's in a variety of
applications and settings, Mac is what I work on now, and will
always be my preference.
*All
printing is outsourced. In some cases a printer is referred
and you deal directly with them, with Hot Designs complete technical
support.
